What a Weekend

I have been neglecting my blog lately, but after being gone for 2 weeks there was a lot to do around the house and we had to prepare for the big wedding reception on Saturday. The reception was beautiful and everything went off without a hitch, including my and Kyle’s speeches. Lauren and her girls looked absolutely stunning in their white dresses and Kyle’s mom was beaming with pride as she danced with Zac and lived out her goal that had helped her through all of those dark days of chemo. Kade did not stop dancing all night, literally. He danced from the second the first song started to the last note of the last song at about 11:30. He only stopped during the slow songs, where he proceeded to cry until a fast song came on. I could not believe how much fun he had. I definitely couldn’t keep up with him, in fact I was having real contractions by the end of the night (the ones the wrap around your lower back), but they stopped once I was resting back at my parent’s house in Sandusky. On Sunday, Kyle and I took Kade to Soak City and Cedar Point. He had fun going down the slide into the water and he hasn’t stopped talking about riding on Thomas (the Cedar Point train, which he swears is Thomas the Tank Engine) since we got home yesterday. It’s days like these that make me so excited that it is finally summer. If it would just stop raining around here we could actually go out and enjoy it.

Kade’s new word lately has been “Jesus,” as in “Jesus, I just spilled my coffee.” My mom taught him to say “gosh” instead, so now he just goes around saying “Jesus, gosh.” I have to admit that he is pretty funny when he says it, since he uses it at the appropriate times. We were driving back to Cleveland when Kyle laid on the brakes and Rocco fell down from looking out the car window, to which Kade responded, “Jesus Rocco.” We both bursted out laughing, which may have something to do with the fact that Kade continues to use the word pretty frequently. There are worse things that he could do or say so I’m just going to sit back and let it pass. I’m learning pretty quickly that you have to pick your battles. Childhood is too short to spend it picking at every little thing.

I’m finally back into the swing of things. My house is clean, laundry is done, sugars are under control, and Kade is happy to have things back to normal so I can hopefully start blogging daily again. This weekend is going to be devoted to Liv. We have to get her room painted and cleaned out so that we will be ready for her arrival. When I think of all we need to do my heart starts palpitating so I’d rather not talk about it.

Kyle’s mom got great news from her bone marrow biopsy Wednesday, she is in total remission (no leukemia blasts), but she still has to have the bone marrow transplant due to the insidious nature of this type of leukemia (it almost always comes back). So on July 17th she goes into the Clinic and the transplant will occur on the 25th. Hopefully all goes well and she is out by the 8th of August, we just don’t want the baby to come while she is so sick. Kyle’s dad will be staying with us through it all so I’ll keep you posted on her progress when the time comes. The fact that she is going into it healthy really increases her chances of licking this thing. I know one thing for sure, our family will be very happy to put this year behind us but for now we are just enjoying every day as it comes.

It was nice to meet you at Lauren’s reception! I hear nothing but great comments about you from my parents and Laurens family! GEESH, they would have you as a daughter if they could! You did such an awesome job on your speech. That was the best one I have ever heard. You had all of us crying! I must say, you are the cutest pregnant woman I have ever seen! Good luck with Liv. It was so great meeting you!

    Hi Erika
I enjoyed reading the updates on your BLOG. I’m glad that things have settled down for awhile and you can concentrate on your UPCOMING ARRIVAL of LIV. That will be here before you know it. So don’t work too hard to get the room for her in order. She won’t know if you are a little late doing it but it would be nice to have all the paint smell out of the room before she gets here—LOL Is Kade giving dancing lessons yet?—lol. I just couldn’t believe the way he kept dancing the night away.
    Take care.
