At Zac and Lauren’s wedding reception our family got to witness firsthand the 2-year old dancing phenomenon that we call Kade. Everyone kept coming up to us, amazed that his little feet carried him the entire night with hardly any breaks. I told them all that this was nothing new - he would dance all day every day if he could. Today he danced to his Wiggles DVD (twice) and he knows all of the actions and character nuances. I am blown away by his ability to learn a new song and dance in one viewing. Music moves him, it always has. When he was a newborn, music was almost the only thing that would soothe his colic and from a few months of age he would turn his head toward anything musical. As an infant he would stop playing during commercials, just so he could listen to the music being played, and now, as a toddler, he expresses his preference for different songs and actually moves to the rhythm of the music he hears. He can really dance (I mean it is actually good, much better than about 75% of the people dancing at the reception, including me). It makes me wonder about what his future holds and how music will fit into it. I just hope his love of music stays with him and moves him for years to come.
