Today is a turning point in my MIL’s long 3 month journey with leukemia. Today is the day of her bone marrow transplant and her “rebirth”day. When we sent her pictures of Liv’s nursery she told me that butterflies symbolize new life. Well, today she is a beautiful butterfly who is shedding the coccoon of leukemia and leaving it behind to spread her wings and fly cancer-free for life. Now, whenever I see a butterfly I will think of her and how far she has come in her battle. For all of you out there who read this, please keep her in your thoughts - that her days from here on out are full of healing, living and happiness.
We are going up to the hospital to celebrate with her tonight. Children under the age of 14 aren’t allowed on the floor so Kyle’s dad is going to keep Kade busy while Kyle and I congratulate her. It makes me sad that I can’t just go up and say hi during the day, but I understand why they don’t want germy kids around so we’ll suck it up for a month because that will ensure many more visits with Nana in the many years to come. If you have a minute, stop by her site and wish her a Happy Rebirthday!!!
