Last night we went up to the Clinic to see Kyle’s mom and congratulate her on the successful transplant (thanks everyone for all your prayers, thoughts and support). Kids aren’t allowed on the floor, but there is a family room at the end of the hall before you enter the restricted transplant unit so Cindy asked if kids could be in there – lo and behold, they can. So she donned her mask and came down and sat with us. She was literally beaming. I can hardly believe how much life and energy she has, especially with all she has been through and to top it all off she has had some form or another of chemo for the last 7 days straight. She looked great and her smile was infectious. In fact, the nurses kept checking on her all day because she was doing so good (most people sleep through the transplant due to all the anti-rejection drugs, but Cindy is definitely not like most people so it doesn’t surprise me that she stayed awake all day). Kade was a little frightened of Nana’s mask at first, but with her mask and bandana covering her head we told him that Nana was a pirate and he really seemed to like that idea. We had him keep his distance from her though, just in case of any germs. We stayed about an hour just enjoying the happiness of the day and then headed to Little Italy for some yummy Mama Santa’s pizza. Soon, Nana will be able to go with us too.
I’m relieved that Kade is allowed up there because now I can stop in and say hi and give Kyle’s dad a break from the hospital scene once in awhile. These next few days are crucial in her recovery because it is when the bone marrow engrafts, and they won’t even know how successful it is for about 5 days. So keep the prayers coming, because you could definitely see the healing light surrounding her yesterday. All of that energy and love is just radiating from her and healing her body and warming her soul.

Erika,
I am glad that Kade was allowed to visit his Nana. My thoughts and prayers are with you, Kyle and Kade. If there is anything I can do you know all you have to do is call and I will come up. Give everyone my love.
Love
