Dinner for 4

On Saturday night Kyle and I headed over to Lakewood for what turned out to be a very enjoyable evening at our friend Brian’s house. He hosted a formal dinner party that included a 4 course meal, mojitos (virgin for me), and great conversation. His home was beautiful and perfectly decorated. Kyle put a slideshow on Flickr of the decor and food presentation. Everything was delicious, but the molten chocolate cake for dessert topped with Bailey’s Godiva ice cream literally made my toes curl - yummy. When we got there Brian and Melissa gave us a picnic basket filled with homemade apple pie and cabbage rolls all ready to freeze and use after the baby is born. It was such a thoughtful gesture and it will help us out tremendously. We are lucky to have such amazing friends and it was the perfect way to reconnect with our adult selves before adding yet another kid to the mix.

Brittany and Marc watched Kade for the evening and they managed to survive, albeit with firm plans to not have children for at least another 10 years. I don’t know what we’d do if Brit wasn’t so close, she has definitely been a lifesaver lately.

Today I was attacked by bees - yes, you read it correctly - bees. Kyle had cleaned up the yard and mowed the lawn while Kade and I were pruning all of our dead daisies out front. He finished up and came out by us to play some tee ball with Kade in the front yard. I decided to go around to the side and back of the house to pull weeds from the concrete. I start pulling some weeds attached to the house next door and realize that bees are covering my gloves and buzzing all around me so I immediately freak out cause I can feel them stinging my head. Kyle thinks I’m over exaggerating as usual, but quickly realizes this is the real deal when he is stung on the leg so he grabs Kade and hurries into the house and I quickly follow. I was worried about having a reaction that would affect the baby, but everything turned out okay (even though I still have what feels like a raging headache from the stings). The worst part is that my already flying-bug wary child will now be deathly afraid of bees and all other flying insects after the display that his Mama and Daddy put on today. Oh well, at least he didn’t get stung…
