Wow, what a week. Sorry about the lack of posts, but as you all know - the holidays are a busy time. I had a Thanksgiving edition of thankful Thursday started, but I never got to finish so I’ll just post one this Thursday to make up for it. Our Thanksgiving was wonderful and it is always nice to spend time with our families. The holiday season has officially started and now that our tree is up, I’m in the Christmas spirit (bring on the Harry Connick, Jr. music, the Bailey’s and coffee, and the dreaded shopping that is so much more bearable when the previous item is involved).
I’m working on a letter and an email to send out about Team in Training so people who don’t want to donate online can have other options. I am very grateful to my cousin Amber, who left such an inspiring comment. I have until May 20th to raise the money for the marathon, but I figured that the earlier I started, the more I could raise, which means more money for what matters most - those battling each and every day with the invisible enemy that is cancer. I have started training (even though formal coaching doesn’t start until December 9th) and I am definitely out of shape. I’ve been running a little over 3 miles every other day, but I have been resting for the past few days because I somehow managed to strain my knee (I know what you are thinking - a bum knee at 3 miles, how in the hell is she going to make it to 26?). Well, I will make it. Slow and steady wins the race, right. That is how I’m approaching the training program, slow and steady, and with patience and hard work I will get there (even if my knees hurt in the process).
I have a lot of catching up to do, and a ton of emails to respond to (sorry Aunt Vicki and Gram Roth) so I’ll keep this post short, but I will leave you with something sure to get you into the holiday spirit.
