Kyle took off Friday and Tuesday, so we were looking forward to a nice long, relaxing holiday. Friday morning I noticed that Kade felt a little warm, but I didn’t think much of it. We went to the Natural History Museum to check out the special T-Rex exhibit (which was great by the way) and Kade started coughing a lot. He had a full blown fever by bedtime and the cough was getting worse. Kade slept that night, but Liv decided she wanted to eat every 2 hours. Kade ran errands with Kyle all day Saturday so I could get the house cleaned, even though he was still running a fever and coughing, so that night both he and Liv were up pretty much around the clock. I was having my family over for Christmas Eve dinner so I had a lot to do, and I hadn’t slept in 2 days. I don’t know how I managed to have everything ready in time, but I know it had a lot to do with my husband (thanks Kyle). Kyle posted all the pics on his site , so you’ll have to check out the one of my beautiful prime rib (yes, it did taste as good as it looked). The kids got way too many gifts, but they loved every second of it, and who am I to deny my family the joy of spoiling their only grandchildren. Kade was pretty much impossible to get to sleep (the usual as of late) and I was up with either him or Liv from 11:30 until 6:00, non-stop. We were up at 8:30 to open gifts, so that put me at about 2 hours of sleep - total. We were all on our last legs by Christmas morning, and I seriously considered taping my eyelids open for our trip to Sandusky. It was a whirlwind getting the kids, house, and gear ready for our departure, but we were at Kyle’s mom and dad’s by 3:30 (don’t ask me how). Kade was beyond exhausted (as was I) and he let everyone know it (he did manage to behave through most of the evening, right up until it was time for bed). Kyle stayed with him at his parent’s and I took Liv to stay at mine. Liv was only up twice that night so I got a significant amount of sleep compared to the previous nights, but Kyle came over singing a totally different tune (Kade decided to give him a run for his money the night before). To sum it all up, we had a Christmas full of sickness, sleep issues, and crankiness, but when we walked in the front door last night and Kade lit up with excitement at the sight of all his untouched toys the magic was back if only for a moment, and we could laugh about it all (that is until Liv decided to get up every 2 hours once again)…
