I decided to join the Crazy Hip Blog Mama’s carnival for the first time. This week the post is “5 things you might not know about me.” So here they are:
1. My house is always clean, but my car is a disaster area. It hasn’t been washed since before Liv was born, and the dust on the dashboard could technically be measured with a ruler.
2. I obsessively check the doors every night before bed to ensure that they are locked.
3. I have never left the house without wearing mascara (all other make-up, yes; mascara, no).
4. I used to lie about my age because I was embarrassed about getting engaged so young (ahem, 18). That’s another thing you probably didn’t know about me – Kyle and I got engaged when I was 18 and he was 21, married at 21 and 24, and are still going strong at 27 and 30).
5. Sometimes I feel like I let my family down by not going to medical school (my mom reads this blog and this is probably going to make her feel bad, so I’m sorry but it’s the truth).
There are tons more where those came from, but I’ll save you all from the arduous task of delving into my psyche.

The only time I really care about what my car looks like is when I know I’m going to be driving someone around…the night before you can see me out there with a laundry basket for the keeper stuff and a trash bag for the non-keepers…it’s drives my husband crazy because you could eat off of every surface in his truck!
lol – my car too. I always have a handful of empty water bottles and starbuck cups in the trunk. And dusting the dashboard? Who does that?

I LOVE this post. Isn’t amazing how you feel you know someone, but there’s always something to learn? I totally feel you on the car thing. I must say the dust drives me nuts but I can never remember to take a swiffer out to the car with me when I leave….obviously my mind is on other things. Also funny about the engagement thing. I never lied about my age but to this day when people start putting the pieces together about how old I am (23) and that I’ve been married for 4.5 years…I beat them to the chase saying “I got married young.” (got engaged/married at 18) I guess it’s just habit. And the door thing…I will be laying in bed and I will physically come down and look/feel the doors if I can’t remember if I already did so. And David’s car. If I can’t remember him locking it. I will come down and use the remote from in the house just to hear it go “toot”. And I can’t go to bed without the house being in order…this is getting better though…when I lived at home I actually had a routine I HAD to go through every night before I went to bed, including pulling my door and closet door closed a certain about of times, pushing down on each of my blinds trying to get them as closed as possible so light wouldn’t come in in the morning (even though I’d wake up before the sun came up), checking my alarm so many times, a certain way to pray and how many times I made the sign of the cross…Talk about OCD. Okay, I’m rambling. See ya later!
Erika,
No you could never let me down. You are a wonderful daughter and a great mother. I see how much my grandchildren are loved and taken care of and the joy in your eyes when you and Kyle are together.
I love you!!
I used to lie about my age too. I’ve been embarassed before that I am 25 and am married to my second husband.
Found your blog via CHBM… have to ask… what race is “Team Roth” training for? Are you running? Tell us more about the “Team in Training” Link. :)
Wow, that is great that you and your husband are going that strong. I can’t say the same for me…my first marriage was over right after 7 years. I hope I do better…much better…this time around.
Just visiting via the carnival :)
Oh my, oh MY.
Sure we get out of the house before noon, but it’s only thanks to the dogs that there aren’t cheerios and squished blueberries all over the floor. And we won’t even discuss the pink crayon all over the wood floor this morning.
la la la la la…I just pretend it’s not there!
Thanks for letting me know you’re reading. You’re in my Bloglines now, so I’ll be keeping tabs.
BTW…kids? Adorable.
You’re a brave soul! I won’t leave my house without makeup on — even if it’s just to get the mail or take out the garbage…my hair and makeup have to be just right! I’m a bit better now though – I will go the gym with just powder…
