I ordered some clearance sweatpants from the woman with the secret and they sent their swimsuit catalog along with the order, which really does wonders for one’s body image and overall outlook on life – given we have a good 3 months of winter left. After dinner, I was flipping through it, trying not to compare my lumpy body to the air-brushed beauties staring back at me, when Kade snuggled up next to me to see what I was reading. He lets out a sigh and says, “Ahh…boobies.” I confess that my laughter got the best of me. It was the way he said it, as if he was recalling an old memory, one that gives you the feeling of utter bliss. It must have been the 15 months of nursing. I’m surprised he even recognized that those actually are boobies, given that the only breasts he’s ever seen belong to me, and they look NOTHING like the perky, full and suspiciously round ones in the mag.
I called the pediatric dentist today and made an appointment for Kade. I am anal about brushing his teeth, to the point that I worry when anyone else does it besides me because I can’t check to be certain they were cleaned properly, but over the past week Kyle and I have noticed that his top, left front tooth has a gray tinge to it. It will not come off with brushing (poor kid had to endure his obsessive mother’s scrubbing), and the gums don’t look damaged. He grinds his teeth and has a habit of gnawing on the side rails of his toddler bed (I know….gross), so I’m wondering if he didn’t traumatize the tooth somehow and there’s nerve damage. He says it doesn’t hurt, so who knows. He’s due for the proper cleaning that comes with turning the big 3, so we’ll kill two birds with one stone. Googling has suggested that all the night nursing we did could be to blame. Let’s hope not cause this mama would feel terrible knowing it’s something I did. At least it’s a baby tooth and will eventually fall out anyway, which helps lessen the guilt.
I’m running around like a madwoman today trying to get us all packed for a weekend in good ole’ Sandusky. Kyle has to do some stuff on Saturday and our niece, Alli, turns 3 today so her party is in Toledo on Sunday. We figured we would try to leave tonight so I can run in the morning while my mom and dad watch the kids. Anyone who travels with children knows how stressful it can be to make sure everything is together, the house is in order, nothing gets left behind, etc. I am always a total b*tch during the process, so I’m trying to keep that in check today. Two kids, two dogs, suitcases, baby gear and us makes for a fully packed vehicle, and I especially love how my two chihuahuas must be on my lap (they wrestle for the best position, which was even more wonderful when I was pregnant and technically didn’t have a lap). At least it’s only an hour and half drive, it could be much, much worse… and spending time with our family makes it all worth it.
I’m going to try and post from there over the weekend, but if I can’t, I’ll be back in business on Monday.
(I just realized that a much more appropriate title for this post would have been “Tits, Teeth and Travel” but this is a family-friendly blog, and I REALLY hate that word).

Hi Erika
I just love reading your BLOG so keep them coming. It makes me feel closer to the kids knowing what they are doing etc.
That soup recipe sounds interesting. I was going to print it out but couldn’t find out how to do it without printing out all the pages to the blog. Being it is late, I will wait till tomorrow and write it out. I think Ralph would like that soup.
