I spent a few days in Sandusky. Kyle needed to work on some stuff around the house, so I decided to get the kids out of his hair and head home. It was a nice break, and it’s always great to spend some time with family. Oh, and the sub-zero temperatures did not impede my training – thanks to my parent’s treadmill. I can complain all I want about how boring running on a treadmill is, but it sure beats the hell out of running in -20 degree weather…
We got back yesterday. Kade was exhausted, Liv was exhausted, and I was in my usual state (borderline comatose due to 6 straight months of no proper sleep). Kade took a 3 hour nap (is it ok to be extremely jealous of your own child?). I actually had to wake him up so we could make it to the dentist on time. That combination (being woken up and having your mouth inspected by a strange man with a mask and tools that resemble torture devices) would normally result in a screaming toddler seemingly possessed by some kind of unnatural demon, but Kade decided to yet again throw a wrench in my grasp of his evolving personality and behave beautifully. He was so good that I had to keep picking my chin up off the floor so it wouldn’t get stepped on by the ridiculous number of people in the waiting room. We waited for an hour before even being taken back to the exam room, where the exam lasted a whole 10 minutes (if that). Kade actually behaved better than me. I was sighing and carrying on about the hour wait while Kade sat quietly examining the mass of people who were becoming increasingly agitated right along with me. Don’t worry, he made up for it by allowing the screaming, seemingly possessed demon to come out at around 5 this morning…

it is so okay to be jealous of your own child when it comes to sleep – the ability to fall asleep in 2 seconds flat (not that they always choose to do that) alone is worth a little coveting. :)
