Bad timing

I woke up with the most unpleasant inability to swallow due to a nasty sore throat. Great. We have a trip planned in less than 3 days and I am not going to spend our first weekend away in ages being sick. I took inventory – no orange juice, no airborne, no zicam, no way to fight this thing off – and Kyle took the car to work today because we are supposed to get dumped with up to a foot of snow. So I’m keeping my fingers crossed and my children at bay (I do not want them to be sick on their first mini-vacation either). However, I’ve discovered that it is damn near impossible to avoid kissing them (I’m telling you those cheeks are just asking for it), but I’m doing the best I can.

Oh, and we have open house tonight at Kade’s future preschool (if we can get a spot on the list). As much as he needs to get some social interaction with kids his age, and I need a few hours to get things done around here, it is really difficult for me to imagine him donning a miniature backpack and heading out the door for school in the mornings. It’s a good thing I have until September to work through these emotions (that must be why they have registration so early – they know that it’s going to take us mamas a good 6 months to come to terms with the fact that our babies are growing up).

oh, I hope you don’t get it – certainly no fun, and kissing is completely unavoidable!

hope the open house wasn’t too unsettling :)
