It’s been a month (almost) since my last post. At the urging of some good friends, I’ve decided to start blogging again. I have a lot to catch up on…like recounting the pirate party we threw for Kade (complete with my homemade pirate ship cake), Liv’s first words (Da-da…of course), and my new haircolor.
This past month has been rough. Being diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes has changed my life, but it hasn’t stopped me. I was pretty depressed for awhile because I thought it had. I was having a difficult time getting back into training. I was worried about leaving the house with the kids for fear of going low while out, or even worse, while driving. I would avoid my computer because it only led to more and more reading about diabetes, and all the crap that comes with it. I couldn’t get my insulin dose right to avoid going low for up to 2 days after a run, but I found a formula that is working for me and I even ran 11 miles on Saturday with 13 planned for this weekend…can you say back in business? I’m meeting with an insulin pump rep on Friday to learn about pumping, and if all goes well with insurance…I should be on the pump in a few weeks, which means that my life can feel somewhat normal again. At least I won’t have to carry my glucose meter, testing strips, insulin, syringes, and energy gels for a quick 5 mile run…running with all that crap around my waist makes me look like a tourist at Disney World circa 1990…fanny packs may have been cool then, but they sure as hell are not cool now.
I’m not going to attempt playing catch up tonight, but I am going to shoot for a daily post. I miss you guys.

Welcome back, Erika. Amber and I have missed your posts so much. You brighten our days and we’ve been lost without you….we’ve been depressed! When I saw your new haircut I told Amber “great minds must think alike” because she got almost the exact cut last Thursday! Keep posting and bringing joy to everyone’s lives.

Yay! Erika’s back….I’ve missed you and your daily posts too. And I must admit I was a little worried there. When I’m down I always try to remind myself that I’m not the only one that has those “times”. Everyone goes through it and I also remind myself that it’s those around me that I often depend on to give me a boost. As hard as I may try I cannot always do it on my own. Glad to have you back. Love the new ‘do too!!
welcome back :)

Welcome back, Erika! I’ve missed your posts. Glad you’re feeling better!
OMG! I am SO very glad you’re back! I really do enjoy reading your posts and I was having a little withdrawal, like someone took my daily coca-cola away! Talk to you soon…Kim

So glad that you are back to blogging again. It would be a shame not to put all your beautiful thoughts and words into print for all to read. You have such a way with words. Want you to know that you are in our daily prayers.

So very happy to see you “back in business”. Sometimes life kicks us in the gut and takes the wind out of our sails, but that’s when the tough get going. And “YOU” are tough. Knew you needed to take some time to work things out. Remember, like Heidi said, those are the times we need to reach out. You are only a blog away. Your posts have been so comforting and inspirational for so many. We look forward to all that you have to say. It’s wonderful to be able to watch Kade and Liv grow. So I thank you for sharing. The good and the not so good. Sending our love.
