Update

I’m not even going to attempt to catch up on lost time since my last post. Let’s just say I needed a break…a hiatus of sorts to get things in order. In all honesty, I needed to figure out how to post while chasing around two mobile children (one of which enjoys putting all things within reach into her mouth).

There is this really hot blogger I’ve stumbled upon, who has been updating regularly…so go check him out (it might help fill in some of the gaps of the last month).

Liv turned 10 months old a little over a week ago. I have been experiencing this sense of urgency with her. It’s as if I am watching her go from baby to toddler literally overnight, and it’s not a welcome change. I love my little baby girl. Each day she surprises me with a new skill, and each day I feel her leaving babyhood another step behind. I look forward to the times to come, but I will always treasure those times we had. Just like her brother…I know that no matter how big she gets…she will always be my baby.

Liv has mastered the art of speed crawling (directly over to the dogs’ water dish…and all other things that are off limits for that matter). Therefore, she has moved on to perfecting her cruising. I must say that her efforts are showing and she can make quick work of walking around our ottoman in hopes of snagging at least one of Kade’s micro-sized toys. She loves to read and her favorite books are the same two her brother loved…Goodnight Moon and Brown Bear, Brown Bear What Do You See? Everytime I read them to her I am transported to those days when Kade would snuggle into my lap and intently listen to every word (now he recites them along with me). She will eat anything and everything you present to her, which has led to her distaste of pureed babyfood. Liv is one of the family now at the dinner table…eating whatever we happen to be having that evening…telling us all about her day (and how she will be attending medical school in order to find the cure for diabetes). Her favorite pastime is pointing to objects while babbling to us in her adorable little voice about what it is. She mocks Kade, especially when he is whining and crying, which is pretty funny because it usually gets him to stop once he realizes how silly he sounds. She tries to say ba-ba, dog-dog, and “leave me alone Kade.” Kade was born with rhythm (as most of the family who have seen him dance at weddings can attest), but it seems that Liv’s is slow in coming. She will rock back and forth like a teenager in a 90’s mosh-pit everytime she hears a tune, so as long as we have grunge-rock on the radio she fits right in. She still doesn’t take regular naps, but she sleeps from 7 to 7 every night (believe me…I paid my dues to deserve this). She is the most easygoing little girl…to the point that if I hadn’t watched her come out of me, I would wonder if she was really mine. She has brought so much happiness to our lives, and even though her days of being a baby are numbered, the prospect of what’s to come is overwhelming.
