Diabetes woes

My insulin pump has made managing this disease much easier…but it’s still far from a cure. Yesterday I woke up with a blood sugar of 106, ate a banana with peanut butter wrapped in a piece of bread (45g of carbs) and bolused 0.5U of insulin, which normally covers this perfectly. Well…I test before lunch (3+ hours after eating) and I’m at 199. So I do a correction bolus and bolus for my lunch and an hour and a half later I’m at 60 and falling fast…wtf. So I treat the low with a juice and a snack and go about my business. It was way too hot to cook dinner so I nuked some food for the kids and made myself a delicious bowl of cereal…complete with cut up nectarines. A beautiful 94 before eating, followed by a bolus (which I purposefully overestimated given that I didn’t take the time to measure the cereal) and I’m freakin 315 before bed…again wtf. So I test again…302…great. I do a correction bolus before dozing off and wake up at 75, but I needed to run this morning so I had to drink a juice and eat before hitting the road. Nothing like filling your stomach before heading out for a run. I think my diabetes just wanted to remind me that it’s still here, whether I like it or not…
