Finished? Ha, not even close…

Yesterday I ran 15 miles (my legs are paying for it today). The last 3 miles were entirely propelled by the fact that Harry would be waiting for me on my doorstep upon my return. My smile quickly faded when I realized that my reward was not to be found. I went to the salon for a cut and color, hoping that Harry would be there when I got back…nope. I went to the Ingenuity Festival and checked out the AST Dew Tour with Kyle and the kids. Finally, I arrived home to find what seemed like the Holy Grail waiting for me. I made dinner, gave the kids their bath, spent time catching up with my grandma and grandpa who unexpectedly stopped by on their way back to Sandusky from an out of town wedding, put the kids to bed, finished cleaning up the kitchen and house, sat down to dig in…and fell asleep before finishing the first chapter (trust me, it wasn’t the book’s fault).

Today I walked to Walgreen’s, purchased dramamine, and spent the 2+ hours on the road to our niece’s birthday party in Toledo happily ensconced in the pages of a world that feels so familiar I could swear I was a part of it. After having a great time talking with family, eating, drinking, swimming and sunning, it was time to drive home. Kade and Liv were exhausted. Liv tried desperately to fall asleep while Kade tried desperately to stay awake, which translates into constant chatter, random screams and incessant whining while I attempted to read a book I had been waiting over 2 years for. Needless to say, by the time we pulled into the driveway we were all done. Gone are the days when I could curl up with Harry and not get up until the final page. Ahh, those were the days…

    Erika,
Hello from Iraq! I just wanted to try and give you a couple words of
encouragement for the Marathon. For me, the 15 miler was the hardest. After that I did 3 18s and a 20. It sounds like you are a lot more organized with the training then I was, which is good because I paid the price for it. I am sure you’ll do a great job. Make sure to have Kyle make you motivational posters. Jacki did that for my marathon and it really gave me a boost. Good luck!
