It’s cold

The flurries are falling outside, which means winter is fast approaching, so I went shopping this morning for running tights to replace the sad pair of spandex leggings I currently wear from my high school track days (they are old…very old, and do a horrible job of keeping me warm). Shopping for running tights is the equivalent of swimsuit shopping…pure torture. I tried on about 6 different pairs, twice…each pair accentuating the same part of my body that I do anything and everything to hide. It’s like walking around with a giant arrow pointing directly at your ass…those things are so unforgiving. I finally settled on an off-brand that was on sale at exactly the same moment that Liv was about to chuck her snack cup into the fitting room mirror. I’m hoping they do the job. The pair I got was on sale for $30, but all the other pairs were in the $50 range, which would lead one to believe that they will lift your derriere into the place it sat 10 years ago and conform to your legs in such a way that you will instantly shave 2 minutes off your mile. I highly doubt my new tights will do all that, but if they keep me warm I’ll be happy…

Ha! Too funny. I went through this a couple weeks ago myself.

The thought that was going through my head was, “I can’t believe I’m trying these things on.” But then I came to the conclusion that they aren’t THAT bad and I run at 5am, who’s going to see me? Today was the first time I wore them and I REALLY like them.

I also went through not knowing what kind to get (mostly due to price) I ended up with a pair from Target. They aren’t super thick but will do the job. I figured it was a starting point considering I thought I’d never buy these things, let alone actually wear them out in public.

I’m trying mine out tomorrow so I’ll keep you posted. Just promise that you won’t act like you don’t know me at the Pigskin race…I have a feeling that the temps are going to force me to bear my biscuits in the light of day…gasp.
