Things are finally getting better and this sick is getting the hell out of our house. The kids now have a kick-ass playground thanks to my parents and grandparents (and the hard work of my dad, Kyle and myself). It took over 9 hours to build, but was more than worth it. Kade is in love. He would swing all day if we let him. Seriously…he ignored the bowl of cookies Kyle brought out for him, and even kept swinging while Liv ate his share along with hers. I don’t think I have ever seen him happier. The freaking Wiggles concert can’t even compete with this…this is huge.
Kyle was home today so I got all kinds of things accomplished. I cleaned out the garage, washed the windows, bought our pool pass, went grocery shopping, did laundry, and ran 5 miles in the middle of the afternoon. If I could run in the afternoon every day, I would be very fast and very tan, but I’m stuck being slow and pasty…oh well.
I had to test my sugar about 5 times before I could leave for my run. It started at 84 and I couldn’t get it above 110 (even after eating three cookies) so I drank some juice, turned my basal down to 25% and crossed my fingers. After 5 miles, I finished at 120…perfect. It is so frustrating when you have to shove your face full of food before working out…kind of defeats the purpose. I would love to just be able to go out and run without all the planning beforehand. It’s the simplicity I miss the most…it can never be just me and the road…diabetes is always along for the ride, and on days like this I want to kick it to the curb.
