No ice-cold beer here

So I didn’t get to rock-out with the Black Keys last night, but I did get to hang out with some friends over burgers and beer. It was a low key evening, we were all rather tired, and as much as we love each other, we were home by 9:30. It sucks getting old.

I think that I’m going to have to give up beer until I get the CGMS. It makes my sugar go sky-high, even when I try to cover it with a bolus. The watered down, light crap does a number on me too, so I suppose wine and scotch will have to suffice (why does that statement make me sound like a raging alcoholic).

In running news, I’ve logged 378 miles this year…not too shabby, but I wanted to get at least 100 a month, so I’m a little behind. After only running one day last week, I’m getting back into the swing of things, but I hope the wheels don’t fall off when I attempt a 12-miler on Saturday. The half is fast approaching, and I desperately want to be ready.

Tonight is a school board meeting, tomorrow I’m parent helper, and Kade’s last day is Wednesday. It’s going to be wonderful when we have no responsibilities and each day is ours. The calendar is filling up quickly though, and as I sit outside in a sweatshirt, typing with cold fingers…I’m more than ready for summer to arrive.

What the children have been up to…

Kade’s been going to bed without a shirt on because that’s what Daddy does (I’ll give him a week before he decides to forgo the pants too). The kid’s been into dress-up and role-play lately (strike that, he’s always been into it). He asked me today if they make Prince Charming costumes, maybe I’ve found a small-business opportunity…it’s too bad I can’t sew.

Liv has been telling me when she poops. She does not like the feel of pull-ups, so taking her diaper on and off to sit on the potty is a total pain in the ass (the fact that she sits on it for less than a second before getting off doesn’t help either). I can see diaper-free days in the near future, and it’s making me all warm and fuzzy inside.

Nevermind…that’s just my low blood sugar.
