We had a belated, 7th anniversary, celebratory weekend that started out with dinner at Parallax on Friday night. I got to indulge in my all-time favorite…seared scallops, drink fine wine, and completely ignore the constant beeping of my CGM telling me that my sugars were out of control.
I got my long run in on Friday morning so we could sleep in and pretend like we actually remember what it’s like to stay in bed past seven. We did stuff around the house, ran errands, had a Korean lunch, talked, laughed, and got ready for our big night out. It felt strange. We kept talking about the kids and how weird it was to not have them running around the house. They do a good job of making me completely crazy, but when they aren’t around I really miss them.
We headed down to Ohio City for a 5K and bar crawl, which was a damn good time last year so our expectations were set high. Despite the downpour that delayed the start, the night did not disappoint. I had a personal best, finishing at 24:24:10, which I never expected given that I am usually worthless when I run at night. It did a lot for my confidence level going into the start of marathon training this week.
We hung out with old friends, met some new ones, and ended the evening eating the most perfect combination of flavors known to man…Bar Cento’s sunnyside pizza.
I couldn’t have asked for a better tribute to our 7 years together. This finally feels like our city…like home. I can’t wait to see what next year brings, and I’m already looking forward to toasting 8 years of marriage on the streets of Ohio City…

Congrats on the PR! Be careful with the Sensor, apply pressure with a kleenex to the site immediately after you pull the needle out. This way you won’t bleed and ruin the sensor. Keep running!

Hey!! Congrats!!! My husband and I celebrated our 12 year anniversary doing the Ohio City Run and Crawl too and I beat my PR too (27:32) and my Ohio City 5K time last year of 34 flat!!!! What a great time. You’re right, last year was so much fun. I met so many people at the Bier Market. This year had a different feel thanks to the storm, but it was still fun!!!
