Tracks

I did 4×800 at the track this morning. My left calf/shin area has been bothering me lately. It’s like a random nerve-pinch kind of pain that makes me want to stop abruptly or fall over. It hurt the whole way to the track and I kept thinking that I should back off on the speed work. Thankfully, I went for it and it actually hurt less the faster I ran…crazy. Diabetes and track workouts must get along because I was a beautiful 120 through the entire 6 mile run. I thought the adrenaline from the speed would raise my sugar, but apparently I was wrong. I’m hoping the pain stays away for my 14-miler tomorrow, and my perfect, level sugars are replicated.

Now every song I hear gets me thinking about that soundtrack I’m working on. At the start of my last 800 Ani DiFranco’s song “Both Hands” came on and I’ve decided to put it on the cd. That song always makes me think of Kyle and our relationship. I even got emotional as I was racing around the track by myself, thinking about how far we have come and how much I look forward to how far we have to go. Love is rarely easy, but the reward is so worth the hard work. The pay-off is having a person who becomes a part of you, and you of them…magic.

What is it with me and YouTube lately? It’s the only way I know to put songs in a post. The up-side…we got to catch a glimpse of Ani’s adorable baby. Too cute.
