Shit. I’ve got 18 miles on the schedule tomorrow. This is when training gets interesting. You have to trust that all of the work you’ve put in up to this point will get you through 3 hours on the road. To be honest, it’s not the mileage that scares me…it’s that my sensor will go out like it did just before my 16 miler last week. I spent the entire 16 miles worrying about what my blood sugar was doing, whether I needed to test (which I did 4 times and I never test during a run), and how many blocks I needed to eat. My graph has become my best friend and I’m praying it decides to cooperate tomorrow.
The trick to recovering from a long run is to pack the rest of the day full of activities that force you to be on your feet until you literally collapse into your bed that night. The Feast is tomorrow and I’m hoping we can head down to the overly-crowded, Little Italy party before going to our neighbor’s 3rd birthday bash. Then we are off to Sandusky on Sunday morning for Skip’s showing and funeral. My dad didn’t answer his phone yesterday when I called. I think he’s still having a hard time talking about it.
I just ordered Liv’s birthday present. It’s a kick-ass dollhouse that I can’t wait to play with. I always wanted a dollhouse as a kid, and I know that Liv will love it. I showed it to Kade and he made sure that boys are allowed to play with it too (this kid is really into gender roles). They play really well together, so this should only enhance it. My plan is to keep it as nice as possible so she can pass it on to her kiddos someday (if she decides to have them), or her brother’s kiddos (if he decides to have them), or charity (if neither decides to have them). The point is…I want it to be something special.
Now I have to figure out where I’m going to put the 33 adults and 18 children I’ve invited to Liv’s party. Maybe I should ask Walgreen’s if we can use their parking lot? Don’t even ask what I’ll do if it rains. Nothing like a little stress to get your blood sugar going…
**Ok, so the Feast is next weekend. I’m entitled to a mistake once in a while…**

i’ve been looking for a gift for her…did you get the “family” of dolls also?
I think I saw you on your run as I was on my 3-day training walk in Lyndhurst (also an 18 miler - but we take about 5 hours to do it!)
I know you’re crazy busy, but I have to ask…how’d your run go?
just wanted to wish you luck for tomarrow’s 10 miler!
