Meat pies will make everything better…

We’ve been battling viruses around here for three straight weeks. Frankly, I am over it. When mama’s sick the whole house suffers. I can be a real bitch when I’m not feeling well (and I am thoroughly convinced that diabetes only amplifies every bug I seem to catch). I haven’t been able to run since [...]

M.I.A.

One word for the unexcused leave of absence…sick. I feel horrible. I’ll be back soon. Promise.

35 days and counting…

Kade started talking about this year’s Halloween costume on Nov.1 last year. Seriously. Darth Vader, Incredible Hulk, Batman, Optimus Prime, Green Goblin, a mummy, and King Triton (no joke…he was trying to be the ying to Liv’s Ariel yang) did not make the cut. His final choice is a time-tested, non-commercial classic. Drumroll please…. The [...]

Yesterday was one of the scariest days of my life.

Kade wet the bed again. He also had an accident Wednesday afternoon and at school yesterday. I freaked out a little bit inside. Okay, I freaked out a LOT inside. He didn’t have a single accident at school last year and he was barely potty-trained when he started. The teacher was very calm, reassuring and [...]

Whirlpools, monsters, and way too much laundry.

It’s 3 A.M. and I’m happily dreaming about taking a bath in a tub that has jets and bubbles and candles lining it’s edge when I feel something brushing against my legs. I immediately think that one of the dogs must have gotten out of their crate and decided to join us in the snuggly [...]

One tired mama.

It’s been a long day and because of our overnight drama (more on that later) I didn’t run this morning. Running at night always wears me out so I’m going to retire to the couch, turn my brain off and watch DVR’d Heroes. Goodnight.

It’s official.

I am a raging lunatic. My confirmation booklet for the Chicago Marathon just came in the mail, and I started to cry as I was reading through it. The tears didn’t come from reading an inspiring story or from information about charity runners…no, my tears came from looking at the course map. I have officially [...]

Thinking ahead…way ahead.

In a wine-induced stupor last night, I registered for the May 3, 2009 Pittsburgh Half Marathon, which is finally back after a 6 year hiatus. It will keep me training over the winter, and it will get us back to the city so close to our hearts for a weekend. I predict that it will [...]

Let the taper begin…

Friday night my throat was scratchy, swollen and sore, my cold had moved down into my chest and I was coughing and sniffling and wishing that my body would stop aching so I could get some rest. I found myself googling “running 20 miles while sick” to see just how bad of an idea my [...]

Long day.

I ran my 20 miler in record time (3:00:59). I went with the family to Cedar Point (we were there 6.5 hours…my legs are very pissed at me). I am finally home. The kids are in bed. I am beyond exhausted, and my awesome husband has just poured me a nightcap. I promise I will [...]
