NaBloPoMo…seriously

Ok, it’s National Blog Posting Month and in an effort to get my writing gears oiled up again I am going to participate, which means daily posts for the entire month of November. I am such a sucker for challenges. And I miss blogging… Our lives are all hectic and oftentimes overwhelming, but I need [...]

Mission Accomplished

Tat Originally uploaded by kyleroth. I am now an official member of a very small worldwide club; one that includes both olympic athletes and stay at home moms; one that requires sacrifice, determination, and a dose of insanity; one that forces you to look pain in the face and beat the hell out of it; [...]

A Year in the Life

Liv Ellen is one year old today. Why does it feel like all of this happened yesterday, yet I can’t imagine what life was like around here without her? She isn’t walking yet (which is perfectly fine by me, thank you very much), but she can stand unsupported while trying to jump up and down…because [...]

Almost there…

Liv and Mama Originally uploaded by kyleroth. Liv was 11 months old on Sunday. I have a feeling that this month is going to fly by so I need to get going on what is sure to be the biggest social event of her life thus far. I’ve decided to change her name to Houdini. [...]

Finished? Ha, not even close…

Yesterday I ran 15 miles (my legs are paying for it today). The last 3 miles were entirely propelled by the fact that Harry would be waiting for me on my doorstep upon my return. My smile quickly faded when I realized that my reward was not to be found. I went to the salon [...]

Not surprised…

It’s been a week since my last post…a crazy busy week filled with Kyle working late every day, a 3 year old on a tantrum rampage, an infant who requires constant supervision, and early morning runs that leave me begging for a nap (or to at least sit down) by 2:00. Have no fear…I’m going [...]

Nervous

I’ve been training for the Akron Marathon since I ran the Cleveland half in May. So far my long runs have been 9,11, and 12 miles (I did the 12 miler all by myself in Sandusky 2 weeks ago…which was huge for me). I’m on this schedule (which I modified to include two 20 mile [...]

Liv’s crapper clock

Liv loves to shit when we are out. Of course, as a newborn, nursing infant she would happily fill her diaper all hours of the day, regardless of whether or not we were home, but now that she has it down to one poo a day, she has decided that it’s in her best interest [...]

Kade speak

Kade jumps Originally uploaded by kyleroth. Every time Kade opens his mouth, I tell myself to write down what he said so I can remember it later…of course, I never do. Instead, I lay in bed at night struggling to remember not only what he said, but how he said it. Here are a few [...]

Diabetes woes

My insulin pump has made managing this disease much easier…but it’s still far from a cure. Yesterday I woke up with a blood sugar of 106, ate a banana with peanut butter wrapped in a piece of bread (45g of carbs) and bolused 0.5U of insulin, which normally covers this perfectly. Well…I test before lunch [...]
